Export POCO display family
POCO is a relatively new company which previously produced phones under the Xiaomi brand and is independent since 2020. We first encountered POCO through a recent tender of theirs for designing and manufacturing a display family for the brand in Central Europe. During the implementation we designed and manufactured several regular POS products, illuminated signage solutions, modular elements, three different displays and a custom table.
A complex and spectacular display
The key aspects of the brand's visual identity, which we translated into their displays, are modernity, light, and motion.
The target group of the product is mainly young people, so a digital, progressive, extravagant look was the guiding principle during the design phase.
POCO's unique yellow colour and its challenges
The light on the displays was combined with a brand element, the iconic yellow colour, which required a completely unique manufacturing solution to achieve.
When creating a brand identity, the client typically has some leeway in the use of brand colors, mainly for feasibility and cost-effectiveness. However, during this POCO project there was no such flexibility.
In terms of colour, it is important to note that the colours appear slightly different on different surfaces and materials made with different technologies. This was the biggest challenge for us in this project. It took a lot of testing to find exactly matching shades on paper, plexiglass, metal and LED panels, which are the different elements of the display.
The structure and design of the displays and their relation to the brand and products
The displays and the table are fixed on a metal frame, which provides durability and creates a positive impression of the brand communicating stability and sustainability.
The perforated sheeting on the structures parallels the look of the computer enclosures, making it easier for the potential buyers to relate to the displays as well, as they are presented with a familiar visual element.
Plexiglas, when used correctly, can give a brand and its products a premium look due to its reflective properties.
All components of the display family and also all the graphics are interchanged depending on the product. This allows the components to be easily adjusted to the different phone models in the product range, ensuring a longer-lasting use of the displays and a more sustainable presence in the POS world.
The colorful UV-printed graphics on the displays are eye-catching, creating a good first impression and providing the necessary information in a precise and self-explanatory way.
The POCO team provided us with impeccable concept materials and briefs, our collaboration ran smoothly, and this all ultimately had a huge influence on the result, which we are very proud of.
